The Museum of Baranja is situated in Beli Manastir which is the largest city in the region. This museum was founded in 2016 and it encompasses different Baranjian cultural items used during 17 to 19 centuries. From traditional wedding clothes to culinary utensils, they are so original and delicate. There were different villages and each of them has its own clothes for both genders. Imagine how much efforts people put into making these textiles were made in the past, you will see how people value clothing in their culture. They had red clothes for wedding and the rich whereas the poor would wear paler and simpler clothes.
Our tour guide is showing us the wooden roller which was used with natural hues from plants to put special patterns on the houses of the rich back then. It was a sign to maintain their status and royalty in the society.
